Meaningful conversations at End-of-Life Expo

End of Life Expo

The Hospital Research Foundation (THRF) Group – Palliative Care was pleased to attend the City of Playford’s End-of-Life Expo on Friday 8 August.

This free event was an excellent opportunity for the team to connect with and support the local community with their end-of-life planning.

It was a great opportunity for participants to begin to think about, plan and navigate their end-of-life wishes with help from guest speakers who provided expert advice on making end-oflife choices that suit participants and their families.

The team enjoyed many important conversations with fellow attendees about the importance of starting the conversation around death and dying, an often-taboo topic that people don’t like talking about.

THRF Group – Palliative Care’s Supporter Engagement Manager Jo Overbeek said: “The event showcased all the services needed to navigate end-of-life planning and was appreciated by all who attended.”

“The array of guest speakers spoke about topics ranging from advanced care directives, funeral planning to bereavement services and the benefits of art therapy for patients and their families.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to be part of the day and find out people’s perspectives around death and dying and how each person navigates and thinks about the end of their life.”

Thank you to everyone who took the opportunity to visit our stall and start a conversation – it was a truly great day!
