Help for carers

Dr with patient and wife

Caring for someone at their end-of-life is an important role and carers need information and support to help them navigate this challenging time.

CarerHelp is an easily accessible website filled with information, resources and videos to prepare you to care for your family member or friend.

The website will help you work out where you are in the caring journey and offer you resources, videos and factsheets accordingly. There are many useful tips from carers and health professionals that will help you to provide quality end-of-life care, find the right services and look after your own wellbeing.

CarerHelp has a huge range of topics from self-care, preparing finances, symptom management, recognising dying, caring for the dying person, through to funeral planning and managing grief.

There are links to other trusted sources and services, lists of helplines, and tips from other families who have been through similar experiences. Included are also a range of resources in other languages and resources tailored for First Nations families.

The website is the work of a National Palliative Care Project Grant, and lead by St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
