THRF Group – Palliative Care Program Director Fi Abraham alongside 20 others, completed Nepal’s Annapurna Base Camp Trek to raise funds for palliative care within Adelaide’s south. Commencing in Kathmandu, the journey spread over 11 days trekking through Machapuchare Base Camp (3700m) to reach Annapurna Base Camp (4130m).
These organised trips add so much more to THRF Group – Palliative Care than just fundraising. They raise awareness of the importance of palliative care and reduce the stigma around talking about death and dying. Our committed supporter base is also continued through generations and overall, helps develop a strongly bonded community working towards a common goal!
After encountering landslides, leeches, altitude sickness, thousands of rock steps, and more along the way, these intrepid trekkers are now having a well-deserved rest – strolling up Mt Lofty at 720m!
“Namaste! Mountains, lakes, medieval cities and temples and vibrant culture – Nepal has almost everything with some of the kindest, happiest people around with very little to their name. A brilliant adventure shared with 20 fellow trekkers who collectively raised over $64,000 for palliative care for Adelaide’s south. So very proud of this committed and fun group who really went above and beyond, quite literally!” – Fi Abraham, THRF Group – Palliative Care Program Director.
THRF Group – Palliative Care could not be prouder of these adventurous and committed trekkers!
